Raised Events Overview

Raised Events are custom events created on masters that can be "raised" or fired from an interaction within the master. The raised event is then available on each instance of the master. This enables cases to be added to the event with actions that vary from instance to instance, and it also allows interactions within a master to affect widgets outside the master.

An example use for raised events is to create a master of a Back button. Depending on which page the Back button is used, it can link to a different page, but the button is still a master and can be updated in one location.

Create and Raise Events from Masters

To raise an event, first add a case to the event that will trigger the event.

In the Interaction Case Properties dialog, select the “Raise Event” action, and click the blue “Event” link in the descriptions.

This opens the Manage Raised Events dialog where you can add, remove, and reorder the raised events and select the event(s) to raise.

You can also open the Manage Raised Events dialog from Wireframe->Manage Raised Events in the main menu.

Use Raised Events on Pages

Add a master to a wireframe and the raised events on that master appear in the Interactions pane like other events. Add a case to the raised event the same way you do with other interactions.
Example - Page-Specific Help Button ( RP File | Prototype )

See an example using raised events on a master containing a Help button where the Help button links to different help content depending on the page where it is used. Create your own master with a raised event and try it for yourself.

Summary

With Raised Events under your belt, you create masters that allow for different interactions on each instance of the master. Try creating a Footer master with “Previous” and “Next” links that link to different pages from each page the master is used. If you’re stuck, let us know at support@axure.com.
