Hi,
Just want to drop a few thoughts down here:
Been using the site tree a lot recently to organize and determine groupings for a site, and then outputting that as a site map from Axure.
It works pretty well - however it's very time consuming as the connectors seem to have a mind of their own (even with do not auto flow turned on)
However, some minor enhancements to the site tree would really improve the use of this:
1. It would be great if you can 'hide' pages in the site tree. Sometimes I create a lot of pages that I don't want to appear when creating the site map diagram. It's good that you can turn off pages in the specification generator, but it seems logical to me to be able to do this from the tree itself. It would then have the effect of hiding certain pages from the prototype (which is what I want to do sometimes...)
2. Be able to classify pages: at the moment you can assign Page or a Flow - I'd like to be able to assign different types of pages: Content, Forms, Email, Widget and so on... and then have Axure use it's icons (from the downloadable icon library) to mark each page accordingly. This will really help the visual look of site maps
3. I already raised this one with Victor: but a nice to have would be another window pane that had a bank of pages in it, that can be dragged and used in the site tree. This way I can keep a library of pages I might use - and would also double up as a great card sorting utility, right there inside Axure. I'm forever deleting and then recreating pages whilst I'm trying to decide on the site structure and flow, as I do most of this thinking inside Axure with the tree. (The advantage of this being that when I'm done, I've pretty much got my list of pages ready for wireframing. Plus it's nice having the site map linking to the wireframes in the HTML prototype.)
all the best,
Luke
